Seasonal Staff

Position Overview
If you believe summer camp builds real-world skills, know that dressing like a pirate is sometimes a leadership requirement, and think s’mores qualify as both science and art … we might be looking for you!
North Star Reach is seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and playful Seasonal Summer Staff to help bring camp magic to life. As a Seasonal Activity Specialist (SAS) or specialty staff member, you’ll create safe, joyful, and meaningful experiences for children ages 7–15 with serious health challenges and their siblings.
This is a paid, residential summer position where you’ll live and work at camp, collaborate with an incredible team, and help campers build confidence, friendships, and unforgettable memories throughout the summer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead fun, engaging, outcome-based activities that meet campers’ physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs.
Create and sustain a positive, inclusive, and nurturing camp culture.
Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of campers.
Partner with camp leadership to support daily operations and special programs.
Follow camp policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
Maintain program spaces, supplies, and equipment.
Serve as a positive role model and active member of the camp community.
Participate in staff training, meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
Desire and ability to work with children and teens in an outdoor camp setting.
Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage behavior with empathy, consistency, and respect.
Flexibility, creativity, integrity, and a great sense of humor.
Ability to meet the physical demands of an active camp environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Availability to live on-site from June 1 – August 9 (with some flexibility after July 25).
Successful completion of required background checks.
(Must like moose. Not required … but strongly encouraged.)

Development Intern (unpaid)

Position Overview
We’re seeking a motivated Development Intern looking to gain real-world experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement. This unpaid internship is focused on education and training, with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of philanthropic operations in a mission-driven environment. As our Development Intern, you’ll collaborate with our executive team to refine donor outreach initiatives, ensuring our organization’s long-term sustainability and strategic mission impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Stewardship: Assist in managing donor relationships, drafting thank-you letters, and coordinating recognition efforts.
- Database Management: Update records, track donor outreach, and generate reports using donor management software (e.g., Salesforce or similar tools).
- Event Support: Help plan and execute fundraising events, volunteer engagement activities, and donor appreciation campaigns.
- Prospect Research: Identify and research new corporate, foundation, and individual donor prospects.
- Communications: Contribute to newsletters, social media content, and other development-related marketing materials.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program (business, nonprofit management, marketing, or a related field).
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, organizational abilities, and familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Suite. Experience with donor databases a plus.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, collaborative, passionate about mission-driven work, and eager to learn about nonprofit fundraising and relationship building.

As our Program Intern, you’ll collaborate with our program team to enhance camper experiences, assist in volunteer engagement, and support the seamless execution of our camp programming, ensuring North Star Reach continues to provide transformative experiences for children and families.

- Support campers, families, volunteers, and staff during programming.
- Help with volunteer recruitment and onboarding.

Position Overview
We’re seeking a Social Media Intern who’s passionate about storytelling, digital engagement, and making a meaningful impact. You will play an essential role in boosting North Star Reach’s online presence by creating compelling social media campaigns, engaging with our community, and showcasing our mission to the world. As our Social Media Intern, you’ll work alongside senior leadership to shape the voice of North Star Reach across digital platforms, reflecting our mission and influencing broad engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation & Scheduling: Develop engaging social media posts (copywriting, basic graphic design) for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Community Management: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions to foster a supportive online environment.
- Campaign Execution: Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns and promotional strategies around events and programs.
- Analytics & Reporting: Track social media performance metrics, analyze trends, and present actionable insights to improve engagement.
- Research & Best Practices: Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep our platforms fresh and relevant.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program (marketing, communications, journalism, or related field).
- Skills: Excellent written communication, familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Canva, and/or other graphic design tools. Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
