Children’s Hospitals Partner With North Star Reach to Support Mission.

Southeast Michigan’s children’s hospitals, including Beaumont Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan have all recently become official partners with North Star Reach in support of bring camp to thousands of children with serious health challenges.

A Memorandum of Understanding with each institution outlines responsibilities toward ensuring North Star Reach’s success.  Hospital partners are a primary referral source for campers and families as well as help provide access to the high quality medical volunteers that generously give of their time to help make camp happen.  North Star Reach, as an independent organization and statewide resource, provides year-round, cost-free camp programming to children with serious health challenges and their families regardless of their hospital affiliation.

Dr. Skip Walton, Chairperson of the North Star Reach Medical Advisory Board and Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Beaumont Children’s Hospital said, “Aside from my parents, camp is one of the most influential things in my life. We are excited to work with all pediatric institutions across Michigan and the surrounding states to offer a transforming camp experience to children who typically cannot participate.”
