About The Camp

Located in southeastern Michigan, the camp is set among tall trees and rolling hills with a beautiful lake and a clear view of the sky above. Integrated within this inspiring natural environment will be state-of-the-art medical facilities supported by partnerships with the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and other area children’s health centers.

A needs assessment revealed that less than 10% of children in the state of Michigan and surrounding Great Lakes areas with serious medical challenges have an opportunity to attend summer camp. North Star Reach will help more than 1,500 underserved kids each year. Children and their families will attend camp free of charge.  A $4 million dollar donation by the University of Michigan Health System has secured property and initiated plans for the redevelopment of the abandoned Michigan Fresh Air Camp (close to Pinckney, MI) into a state-of-the-art camp for special needs children from the region.

North Star Reach will provide a life-changing camp experience and enrich the lives of children with serious medical challenges by offering empowering activities, specialized medical supervision and caring relationships while helping to restore the joys of childhood.
